2009 Dodge Challenger
The Dodge Challenger and Plymouth Cuda are two of the most revered muscle cars. These Mopar twins were some of the quickest cars on the street in the early '70s--especially the Hemi versions. Today these rare cars sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars at auctions.
Dodge is big on retro nameplates. They've already brought back the Hemi and the Charger. Now, according to Automotive News, Dodge is planning to bring back the Challenger in 2009.
The new Challenger is said to ride on an updated version of the LX rear-wheel drive platform--the same one that currently underpins the Charger and Chrysler 300.
Catherine Madden, a production analyst for industry research group Global Insight says, "It is a two-door, essentially a competitor for the Mustang."
If the new Challenger does make it to production, you can bet it will have a Hemi under the hood and an SRT-8 version too. The new Challenger could look something like this when it hits the streets in 2009.
